Speaker meets Korean delegates Print E-mail
korea.jpeg      Parliamentary Speaker D.Demberel received Wednesday a visiting delegation led by a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Mrs Pak Gyin He. At the meeting, Mr Demberel said the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Republic of Korea will occur in 2010. "We plan to organize Days of Mongolia in Korea in 2010 and Days of Korea in Mongolia in 2011," he said.

U.S. Congressional team calls on Elbegdorj Print E-mail
us_delegation.jpeg        A six-member U.S. Congressional delegation from the House Democracy Assistance Commission called on President Ts.Elbegdorj yesterday. The leader of the visiting team, Representative David Price, congratulated the new president on winning the democratic election, and expressed U.S. appreciation of the developing relations between the two countries and of the active participation of Mongolia in international peacekeeping operations. He also hoped that the Millennium Challenge Program will help Mongolia’s development.

Mongolia and SCO: Not only Observation Print E-mail
shanghai_cooperation.jpeg     On June 15, 2009, the Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) started its regular work. The representatives of the country-members (China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan) assembled in Yekaterinburg, Russia to exchange opinions on issues of regional security and the global financial and economic crises. This year the presidents of the six states also signed an SCO Convention against terrorism.

Remembering the election riots one year later Print E-mail
2008-07-01.jpeg      A year ago, citizens demonstrated on Sukhbaatar square in UB, protesting the results of the Parliamentary Election which was held on July 29, 2008,.
This demonstration became a riot in the evening and five people died due to it.
After the election some officials made statements about the preliminary results of the victory of the MNRP (Mongolian National Revolutionary Party). People vehemently opposed those statements. A mass meeting was held on Sukhbaatar square in Ulaanbaatar on July 1, 2008. Many citizens expressed their thoughts about political issues and election frauds.

Air route between Mongolia and Thailand may be opened Print E-mail
demberel.jpeg      Parliamentary Speaker D.Demberel hosted a meeting Tuesday with a visiting delegation headed by Chairman of the Thailand-Mongolia friendship group at the National Assembly of Thailand Labsak Laparojit.
Emphasizing the development of relations and cooperation between Mongolia and Thailand in recent years, Mr Demberel said top-ranking mutual exchange visits of the two countries have pushed an intensification of the relations. "The visit of representatives of the National Assembly of Thailand will definitely boost the bilateral relations, especially among the law making bodies of the two countries. Mongolians are grateful that Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand will visit Mongolia this summer," he noted.
