The Constitution Court has ruled that the refusal to allow the National New Party and the Republican Party to contest the by-election in the 24th constituency on the ground that they had not submitted accounts of the previous election was against the law. N.Altankhuyag, head of the DP, has said the 20th anniversary of democracy in Mongolia will be observed for a whole year from December 6, 2009 to December 10, 2010. There will be celebrations, but more attention will be given to spreading awareness of aspects of democracy like such as human rights. A report in The Wall Street Journal has raised questions about the future of Mongolia continuing to be one of the world's most promising new mining destinations. It says Bayar had been was instrumental in overcoming years of heated domestic debate over how to use the country's resources, and his successor might not shape the country's policy on foreign investment in its coveted natural resources with the same authority.

Meeting of the Parliament’s Standing Committee of Economy was held yesterday and made the first discussion of Parliament’s protocol to approve the general directions of social and economic development in the year 2010. Members voted no about 60 suggestions which were initiated from party groups in the Parliament, Standing Committee on Security and Foreign Policy as well as the Standing Committee on Social Policy, Education, Culture and Science.
