Industrial Corporation Mongolia L.L.C. signed with ThyssenKrupp of Germany, one of the leading companies in the world by techniques and technology, to build a coal coke plant. Uhde L.L.C. by ThyssenKrupp is leading provider in this world and based on ThyssenKrupp technology and supplies 70% of world coke. Recent years, Uhde L.L.C. built coke plants in many steel making countries such as USA, Russia, Germany, South Korea, Japan, Brazil and China.
Industrial Corporation Mongolia Company has been studying for last 3
years, to find a coke technology which suitable to Mongolian
conditions. As a result it chooses “Heat recovery” technology by Uhde
L.L.C. for most suitable one to Mongolia. “Heat recovery”
technology to produce coke from coal was first invented by Uhde Company
and used in USA, Australia etc. This technology is very secure in the
process of producing coke, and environmentally safe regarding volatile
content and gas. Also in the production of coke simultaneously can
generate electricity.
Parties are planned to build Coke plant near Choir city of southern Mongolia close to the Coke coal mines. This region of Mongolia is within Gobi desert area with rare of water and therefore Uhde L.L.C. formulated a coke technology which can use air cooling without water as requested by Industrial Corporation Mongolia Company. Washing equipments, coal quality inspection and mixing routines required by Coke plant, were prepared by the ThyssenKrupp technology. Industrial Corporation Mongolia Company and ThyssenKrupp also negotiated on further cooperation and discussed to increase plant production up to 2 million tons of coke per year and even to supply high quality cokes to German steel producers. Cooperation between ThyssenKrupp and Industrial Corporation Mongolia Company has been successfully developed last 3 years and previously they were participated as partners in preparation of a feasibility study for Coal to Gasoline project which would extract by coal and introduced the result to Mongolian Government in July, 2007. During official visit by Prime Minister of Mongolia S. Bayar in Germany from March 25 to 28, 2009, ThyssenKrupp introduced its activities in the field of technology, techniques, especially in coke production and signed memorandum on technical and economic cooperation with Mongolian government in March 25, 2009 in Berlin, Germany.
