Price of Public Transport Is To Be Decreased To MNT 300 From Next Month Print E-mail
Price of petrol has dropped by another 200 MNT per liter but we still haven’t seen a reduction in the price of public transport so far. There had been many arguments over whether to reduce the price or to keep it constant as public had constantly complained.
Their argument is that price of public transport is directly related to the price of petrol, but transporters are putting the price up when they can and are against the idea of reducing it when price of petrol have almost dropped by 40% over the last few months. Following this concern taxi services companies had a meeting last Thursday and they supported the idea of reducing the price of taxi services as it is possible. Also, the big bus companies held a meeting last Saturday and have agreed to reduce the price of single travel ticket to 300 MNT down from 400 MNT.
This will become a reality in space of one month says Ch. Enkhsaikhan, head of the Public transport and Registration department. He also said that he is unsure of the price of taxi services as they have only agreed for reduction but the price is not yet predicted. Ch. Enkhsaikhan will also take control of the mini busses as they are transporting passengers without a genuine license and with higher price. He mentioned this will soon be under control after appointing a minister for this section to look at the matter closely.
