As of the end of September 2008 Business Register Database has registered 61.2 thous.enterprises, of which 36.0 thous.enterprises or 58.9 percent are operating actively. Among all active enterprises 80.9 percent of enterprises 1-9 employees, 9.1 percent of them 10-19 employees, 6.5 percent them 20-49 employees and 3.5 percent of them more than 50 employees.

Compared with the same period of previous year, the number of registered enterprises increased by 6.7 thousand or 12.3 percent and the number of those operating on an active basis by 4.7 thousand or 15.1 percent. Of all active enterprises, establishments with 1-9 employees increased by 4.3 thousand or 17.1 percent, those with 10-19 employees by 0.5 thousand or 16.8 percent, those with more than 50 employees by 19 or 1.5 percent but those with 20-49 employees decreased by 7 or 0.3 percent.
Compared with the end of previous year, the number of enterprises in wholesale and retail trade industry and repair shop for household goods increased by 21.9 percent or 2.5 thousand, and number of those in health and social work increased by 0.7 percent or 16, respectively.
Classifying the total enterprises by industries, agriculture, hunting, forestry, fishing industries for 4.5 percent, industry for 8.7 percent, construction industry for 3.7 percent, wholesale and retail trade industry and repair shop for household appliances account for 44.5 percent, personal services for 38.6 percent respectively.
