A new expansion project for the Darkhan Iron Company has been approved to increase its production capacity. According to the director of the company, T.Ganbold, all the additions will be set up in Darkhan-Uul province, except for the refinery and extracting units, which are to be located near the iron ore mine in Selenge province.
Ganbold said the factory was established before the market was
developed, and always had idle capacity. “When I took over, it worked
at only 36 percent of its capacity. Now the average is 60 percent, but
for several months last year, we made it work up to 92 percent of
capacity. This potential can be utilized only if new technology and
equipment are used. The additions will provide us with this,” he said.
