| Switzerland To Render Assistance |
|
|
|
Forty years after establishment of diplomatic ties between Mongolia and Switzerland in 1964, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation /SDC/ opened its permanent representative office in Mongolia in 2004.
In 2001, SDC rendered its first aid to Mongolia for pastoral households
suffering dzud—natural disaster. Since then, it has carried out
numerous projects for preventing a spread of desertification, fighting
against human trafficking and violence against women, developing
economy of the western region and the agricultural sector of Mongolia.
With a view to provide long-term assistance to Mongolia, SDC has drafted a cooperation strategy. In this light it plans to render an aid amounting 10 million Franks SHF /approximately over ten billion MNT/ each year. Switzerland is the first Western country to establish diplomatic ties with Mongolia.
