Parliament Vice Speaker N.Enkhbold attended the 119th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union /IPU/ in Geneva, Switzerland, on October 13-16.
With 150 members-states and seven regional assemblies, IPU was established with UN observer status in 1889.
The present session was attended by parliament representatives of over
130 countries and four observer-countries. The Union reviewed works
performed this year and a budget report, discussed plan of actions for
2009-2011, the 2009 budget, and matters on how must parliament act
during the elections, how to put inquires to cabinet members, and on
the responsibility and transparency of parliament's activity.
The 120th session will host Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in April 2009. During the session, N.Enkhbold met with IPU Secretary-General Anders B.Johnsson. Meantime, a Secretary-General of the Parliament Office Ts.Sharavdorj held meetings with his counterparts from Canada, Australia, Poland, Thailand, New Zealand, and India to exchange views on bilateral cooperation issues.
