A project for strengthening disaster combat capacity has been completed. It was carried out by the Government of Mongolia in cooperation with the Korean International Cooperation Agency.
A total of USD 1.2 million was spent on the implementation of the
project in the General Emergency Authority. As a result, equipment and
software were improved in the chemical and radiation laboratories of
the Disaster Studies Center. Under the project, specialists of the
General Emergency Authority have been involved in training at the
Disaster Studies Center and in the Republic of Korea. The sides also
conclude that significant progress has been achieved in scientific and
research works on disasters and accidents.
The project closing ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Park Jin Ho and Vice Premier M.Enkhbold. Since 2000, over one thousand disasters and accidents have been registered, 362 people have died, eight million heads of livestock have been lost, and over MNT 300 billion's damage has been caused.
