In January 2008, after 16 deaths due to poor quality vodka produced by small, non-standard alcohol producing factories, the Mongolian government took action and banned all such small factory producers of vodka and alcoholic beverages. APU, as a large leading alcohol manufacturer, greatly benefited from the new legislation which leads to a four fold increase in the stock value of the company. Starting from July 15, 2008, APU changed its share basket by dividing a share by 100 bringing down the price per share to 540 MNT.
