Darkhan Nekhii was established in 1972 with Bulgarian technical support to process lamb and sheepskins for export to the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. In 1992, the company fully privatized through a voucher scheme and was taken over by Gazar Holding Company in 1996.

Today, Gazar Holding Company owns 80% percent of Darkhan Nekhii shares. After investment and technological renovation from the Gazar Holding Company in 1996, the new management restructured and reformed Darkhan Nekhii. Today, the company is a leader in its sector, and well known among customers by the name of “Sheepskin products of Darkhan”. The company manufactures double-faced skin products for domestic and foreign markets, carries out semi and full skin processing activities, manufactures and sells sheep skin coats, accessory items, work clothes, special-use clothes and provide services such as raw skin material processing by orders.
Today, Darkhan Nekhii has 300 employees and has successfully adopted Spanish technology in its plants. Over the past three years, production has grown by 30%-60% and business by 23%. The company holds a market leading position with a 24% share in the domestic market for fur and sheepskin garments and accessories. One of Darkhan’s two main plants produces fur, leather tannery products, and is located in Darkhan city, the second largest city and largest industrial center in Mongolia. Since 2002, the company has been producing leather and fur garments wolf, fox, marmot, dog skin in addition to traditional skins. New technology and machinery has enhanced the traditional processing of cow hide products. Innovation over the past few years has allowed the company to supply 120 designs of 25 different types of products for Mongolia’s domestic market as well as 108 designs of seven different types of products for the Siberian market of Russia. In the past few years, Darkhan Nekhii has been keen on increasing cooperation with foreign companies in order to increase its exports and presence in foreign market. As a result of its efforts, the company has seen export of coats, hats, slippers, pillow set, sofa cover and processed marmot skins each year. Domestically, Darkhan Nekhii has continuously opened new branch shops in Mongolian Provinces in order to increase sales on the domestic market. The company has been selling their public shares since May 26, 1992 with the initial price of 100 MNT per 1 unit of stock.
