Sharyn Gol Energy LLC is Mongolia’s leading mining operator responsible for supplying 15 percent of the nation’s coal market.
Sharyn Gol open pit mine was created in 1965 and played an important role for the development of open pit mining in Mongolia for the past 43 years. Sharyn Gol is the second largest coal mining company in Mongolia that produces over 1.000.000 tons of coal per year and distributes its products to Ulaanbaatar, Darkhan and Erdenet Power Plants as well as to construction material plants located around Selenge Province. Because of its high quality, the mine’s coal is in high demand throughout Mongolia. The company employs over 1200 highly qualified workers and supports a small town in the immediate vicinity of its mine.

In October 2003, the Russian company KRASO purchased 80 percent of the
state-owned shares of the Sharyn Gol Joint Stock Company and plans to
implement measures aimed at reducing the environmental impacts of the
company’s mining operation. At the current production rate, the
estimated remaining lifetime of the mine is 20 years.
Sharyn Gol Trading Company, established in 2004, is one of subsidiaries of B&G Group . Sharyn Gol Trading LLC is responsible for managing coal trading and the supply inventory of Sharyn Gol JSC. The company is the largest coal exporting company in Mongolia and partakes in ,retail coal sale in Ulaanbaatar.
